THC content of flowers

The median THC content is 27%. 66% of flowers reach 25% THC or more; only 2% are below 15%. CBD-rich flowers with at least 5% CBD are the exception: 16 of 1,459.

Canada is by far the most important country of origin: 60% of flowers with a stated origin come from there. 32 flowers come from Germany, which is 2%.

Genetics: Indica, Sativa, Hybrid

Pure indica or sativa strains are rare; 93% of flowers are hybrids. Of these, 494 state an indica dominance and 221 a sativa dominance; the rest are considered balanced or give no information. Availability: how many pharmacies stock a flower

Supply is highly fragmented. 20% of flowers are stocked by exactly one pharmacy; only 4% are available in 50 or more pharmacies. According to the manufacturers, 93% of flowers are not irradiated.

Almost all pharmacies analysed offer collection in store, 77% ship and 71% have a courier service. The pharmacies are spread across 240 towns, most of them in Berlin, Hamburg and München.

Methodology and limitations

• The basis is the catalogue and pharmacy data of the partner pharmacies connected to Medicanova, retrieved on 14 September 2026. 380 pharmacies are covered. Pharmacies outside this network are missing, so the figures do not describe the entire German market.
• Only preparations that were available at the time of retrieval are counted. Variants that differ only in their cannabinoid level count as one preparation; for the THC distribution, the highest stated level applies.
• Information on active ingredients, genetics, origin, irradiation and terpenes comes from the manufacturers and has not been verified in a laboratory. Preparations without this information are missing from the respective section.
• Extracts are not included in the THC distribution because their active ingredient content is stated in different units. Different spellings of the same terpene (such as “beta-myrcene” and “myrcene”) have been combined.
• Prices and stock levels are not included; they change daily.
• The data say nothing about efficacy or suitability. A high THC content is not a mark of quality; which therapy is appropriate is decided by the treating doctor.
