Who treats — and who reviews
Medicanova is a digital platform. We do not provide medical services ourselves and are not a medical service provider. Treatment is carried out exclusively by independent physicians licensed in Germany.
This page sets out who you are in a relationship with, who decides on a prescription, and who reviews the content in our magazine.
How treatment works, legally and in practice
The treatment contract is with the doctor
Not with Medicanova. The basis is a treatment contract under § 630a of the German Civil Code between you and the treating physician. We provide the technical platform and pass on your information.
The doctor alone decides
Whether treatment is medically justifiable is assessed solely by the treating physician, based on your information and prior findings. Nothing is automated and there is no entitlement to a prescription. Being declined is part of the process.
Pharmacies dispense and advise
Medicines are dispensed exclusively by pharmacies. Medicanova ships nothing and gives no advice on use. You choose the pharmacy yourself during the request.
Remote assessment has limits
An assessment without a physical examination is not possible in every case. In certain situations an in-person consultation is required — the request is then declined.
Medical responsibility at Medicanova
Requests are assessed by a physician licensed in Germany. The same doctor reviews the articles in our magazine before publication — the review note appears visibly above every reviewed article.

Medical assessment and review of editorial content
Assesses incoming consultation requests and reviews the Medicanova magazine articles for medical accuracy — ensuring the presentation of the evidence does not go beyond what the cited sources support.
