Cannabis on prescription in Hamburg

Looking for a doctor for medical cannabis in Hamburg? You do not need an appointment at a local practice: you complete a medical history questionnaire digitally, and a doctor licensed in Germany then assesses your answers — for patients in Hamburg just as in the rest of Hamburg.

Whether and how a treatment is medically appropriate is decided solely by the treating doctor, case by case. There is no entitlement to a particular therapy or to a prescription, and an online assessment does not replace a physical examination. The service is available to adults only.

How does the medicine reach Hamburg?

Medicines are dispensed exclusively by a pharmacy — Medicanova does not ship anything itself. After a positive medical assessment, the prescription is transmitted to the partner pharmacy you selected. From there it is either shipped to your address in Hamburg or collected in person, where the pharmacy offers that. Delivery time depends on the pharmacy and the availability of the specific preparation, not on where you live: there is no reason a delivery to Hamburg should take longer than to any other city. You choose the pharmacy yourself during the request.

Every medical assessment is based on a confirmed diagnosis and information about previous treatments. Have doctor's letters or findings, your current medication and the therapies you have tried with their outcome at hand, and summarise them in the questionnaire. Incomplete information is one of the most common reasons for a rejection.Read more in the magazine →

You pay for the medication directly to the pharmacy, not to Medicanova. Adults resident in Germany. Minors are not treated. The prerequisite is a condition for which the doctor considers treatment with medical cannabis justifiable in the individual case, usually after documented attempts with other treatments. The wish for cannabis alone is not an indication.

The product preference in the questionnaire is a wish, not an entitlement; the doctor decides whether and what is prescribed. If the prescribed product is not available at the chosen pharmacy, the pharmacy clarifies with you and, if necessary, with the doctor whether an equivalent product is an option. Availability and prices change daily.
